This post is titled How To Wake Up Google And Other Search Engines for a reason. Let me introduce the concept of “Pinging” and ill also give you the Ultimate Ping List.

I can sense a few of you thinking Vince, what is a ping list and what does it have to do with me. If you asked yourself this question here is the answer although it will only concern those with your own blogs or websites although for the purpose of this post I will be discussing Blogs and in particular WordPress Blogs.

The term “Pinging” can be seen on Wikipedia here. It is simply the process of your blog notifying servers that you have updated content on your site. It is a way for Blog Search Engines to provide fresh results by polling only the recently updated blogs thus resulting on your recent posts showing up in search engines quite quickly. Search engines as you know LOVE new fresh content and Pinging is a great way to ‘Wake Them Up“. It’s almost as if your site is screaming “Hey, I Got Some New Content, Come Check It Out”! If you own a blog then you should include the List below into your Ping List. I have copy and pasted my personal list for you all below to do the exact same thing. I have this exact list currently on 5 different blogs so each time I post new content to any of them, the search engines are notified virtually immediately and these blogs are indexed FAST and enjoy some quick free traffic.

Watch the video below as I show you exactly what to do with this list. If you can, make sure you have already logged into your WordPress blog so you can follow in the video and implement this straightaway. To see the Video better, view in Full Screen.

Now that you have watched the video you will know what to do. Simply copy & paste the full list below and follow these instructions.

1. Log into your WordPress Blog.

2. In the left hand column click ‘Settings’.

3. In the Settings tab click ‘Writing’.

4. In the Writing tab on the bottom is says ‘Update Services’. There should be one site there already. Remove this site and paste the entire list below.

5. Click ‘Save Changes’ and your almost done.

6. Download the “Max Blog Press Ping Optimizer“. You need this plugin to effectively use this list to its full potential. It’s Free don’t worry.

7. Upload the plugin to your WordPress Plugin Directory. The same way you upload any other plugin.

8. Check the plugin settings in the ‘Plugins folder’ in your WordPress dashboard.

9. And your done.

Well I have fallen victim to the 20th century hackers or one might say I left my doors wide open for them to enter and help themselves to anything they like. I have had all my 5 or so WordPress Blogs hacked into to the point where I couldn’t log back in to check or change anything. Talk about getting PISSED off! Like many bloggers out there, I am a novice when it comes to the coding, html,CSS,RSS & technical know how when it comes to WordPress or any website programs for that matter. There are many amateurs who use WordPress as an easy not to technical way to publish content but don’t have the slightest clue when it comes to website security or all that other ‘techie’ stuff. I am honest enough to admit I am one of these people.

I received an email from Google (I thought I was important at this stage) telling my my site was infected with Malware and that the site is now banned to protect visitors computers from harm. In my mind I couldn’t see how this could have happened. Anyway when I visited the site I knew this to be true. Over the next few days I recieved a few more of these emails regarding my other sites. I now had a HEADACHE on my hands. I let it go untouched for way too long before taking any action on getting things sorted out and back to normal. I went online and read some websites about how to log into your WordPress blog ones it’s been hacked and the like and I just wasted time. Again I have NO idea about this stuff and most bloggers out there don’t either.

When I finally decided to fix the problem, I engaged Eleven Media to find the malicious code/virus and remove it so Google would allow visitors to visit my sites. So after about a week or so and $500 later all my sites are now back online and working perfectly. Don’t worry, They wont infect you now!!

I want to say thanks to Aaron from Eleven Media for fixing everything and providing me with some instructions to prevent this from happening again. I will now share these instructions with you below.

8 Steps To Take Now To Prevent Your WordPress Blog From Being Hacked Into.

1. Change your FTP password to a Stronger one. Those of you using an FTP program to upload files to your server make sure the password is strong. Mine was apparently so weak It was like I gave a personal invite to the hackers. If you don’t even know what FTP is then you’ll be fine!

2. Change your Hosting account passwords to a stronger one. (In my case GoDaddy). I cant even remember my customer numbers or passwords and being such a big company I doubt the hackers got to me this way.

3. Change your Google accounts to a stronger one. This includes your analytics accounts, adwords, gmail etc..

4. Back up your sites content & database. I personally am not sure on how to do this. I thought there was a plugin for this. If anyway can answer this question please do so in the comments below.

5. Upgrade WordPress to the latest version. Version 3.0 due around May so upgrade then.

6. Remove your unused Plugins. No point keeping them there if your not using them.

7. Update your used Plugins to the latest versions. It’ll usually tell you in the ‘Plugins’ section that a new version is available. Update it. Make sure its reputable. Don’t download crappy plugins with poor feedback.

8. Ensure that YOU are the only user/admin.

I wish I had this list when I first started blogging. Perhaps I would have saved myself a headache. I have learnt my lesson well and have already implemented the above on all my sites. Again I would like to thank Aaron Rutley for his help. If you guys have any additional support tips that I haven’t mentioned, feel free to leave them in the comments below and we’ll create a more valuable guide.

If you found this article useful be sure to ReTweet it out and send it to your friends.

The New 2010 Porsche GT3 RS. Didn’t Porsche reach the pinnacle with the last model? But they couldn’t stop thinking about it. It kindled their ambition. Porsche defined a lap time that seemed impossible even for a 911 GT3 RS. Now they know better.

Expect the new Porsche GT3 RS to go on sale in late 2009 or early 2010. It’s new 6 cylinder engine has 450HP or 331KW with 430Nm of neck snapping Torque which is enough power to keep you firmly planted in any seat you should be lucky enough to be sitting in. It’s 6 Speed manual trasmission should see you reaching a claimed 310Km/h top speed. It’ll get you from Zero – 200km/h in approximately 12.2 seconds which is quicker than defrosting a slice of bread!

The body of the new GT3 RS is 44mm wider at the rear and for the first time 26mm wider at the front allowing for wider tires for increased stability and improved cornering.

Watch the YouTube video below to see the New 2010 Porsche GT3 Rs on the race track.

The interior resembles that of a true racer with the comfort of a Mercedes Benz making it the perfect track/road car. You will need the racing seats & harnesses if you intend to do a little Saturday or Sunday tire frying sesion at the local race track. (You should be so luck). In the ‘Clubsport Package’ the car will also come with a Roll Cage which is something you want & need but hope you never have to use.

Over the last few years I have often asked myself where do I find meet up groups of people with similar interests to myself. Or where do I find people who have answers to my questions. In this article I will talk about where such a place exists. I actually found this website by just walking past someones computer and noticed they we were looking at this particular website. The site is www.MeetUp.com

As the website name suggests, MeetUp.com is a Global site which pretty much covers any interest you could possibly have. Just 2 weeks ago I joined 5 different meetup groups which were based around Internet Marketing, Affiliate Marketing, Blogging, WordPress & general Internet Business topics and then I just put ‘Melbourne’ in my search and it gave me meetup groups within my interest based in Melbourne. (See screenshot below. Click to enlarge)

Go to the site and start your search. Since joining the site 2 weeks ago I have already been to 2 meetup groups. The first one was a WordPress group and about half of the attendees were WordPress web designers or very switched on hardcore developers of WordPress. Needless to say I learn’t heaps. The second meetup was an Internet Business start up group and the attendees ranged from current business owners to those wanting to start and learn how to start an online business. After the meetup finished about 11 of us went out for Korean BBQ in which I ordered the wrong dish which turned out to be big enough only for a 5 yr old but that’s a story for another post!

MeetUp.com is free to join and free to join as many groups as you wish making this site a great resource for finding people or groups with similar interests to yours.

If you wish to ‘Create’ your own MeetUp group then this is not free. Every Meetup Group Organizer is responsible for paying a subscription fee. Most Organizers treat this fee like a restaurant tab, sharing it with the Meetup Group members by setting membership dues or charging for individual Meetups.

There are 3 subscription plans (all prices in USD):

$12/month for 6 months (a single $72 charge)

$15/month for 3 months (a single $45 charge)

$19/month for the month-to-month billing option

Each plan has a 30-day, money-back guarantee, and Organizers can run up to 3 Meetup Groups with their subscription.

Happy meeting guys. I would suggest joining and attending a few meetup groups first and then go and create your own if you feel there is a need or demand for your group topic.

If you know of any other meetup sites, please write them down in the comments section below. Also if you are a member of other meetup groups, feel free to share your experiences in the comments section also.

10 Tips On How To Market Yourself Or Business. This list by no means guarantees success and I’m sure you could add to it but I’ve found it’s a great starting point for anyone looking to brand themselves or grow a small business.

1. Keep It Real.

No matter what your industry or the market you are in or trying to target, be honest and transparent with your readers, viewers, followers and potential clients and/or partners. The public these days are a lot more educated and up to date than they were say 20, 10 or even 5 years ago so make sure you don’t Bullshit them. Did I just Bullshit? I did. And I say it with a passion. These days information is everywhere and good information can be found at the push of a button or two and we all know when someone is just outright lying and talking crap. We also know when someone has a hidden agenda and thus hides information or the truth just for their own personal gain. Do this and you will quickly get a bad reputation which will spread through your industry faster than wild fire so always be honest and transparent even if it means sometimes losing a customer and sending them somewhere else.

2. Be Consistent.

Make sure that whatever is it you are doing is consistent. If you are creating new products or services make sure they have similarities even if its consistently great quality or consistently great value and you’ll always have an endless supply of people wanting to buy from or join you.

3. Be Different.

It seems that everyone is trying to do the same thing these days. Step away of the heard, be different and dare to do something no one else is. This can truly set you up as a leader in your field. Offer something unique and memorable. I personally strive to be either original or at worst case improve upon something someone else has done in a not so great way and add to it. They say that all you have to do is improve something by 10% and you open up a totally new market for yourself. Don’t be afraid to get out there, be different and step out of your comfort zone.

4. Take A Chance.

Not everything works and Not everything you do will work. God knows I have failed more times that I have succeeded. I will also continue to fail more times that I have succeeded although it hurts to openly admit that! If you don’t try you will never know. You cant fail forever. Eventually you will get there but you must first take a chance on whatever it is you are doing. Sometimes it can be a small change that determines the difference between a success and failure. At the end of your life you will regret the things you DIDN’T do more than the ones you DID.

5. Give Your Clients What You Said You Would.

This is pretty self explanatory. There are many people and businesses out there that market products and services and sell them only to deliver something that was not on their sales copy. I know I’ve bought products that weren’t quite the way the person or company explained. That’s false marketing or what I call scam marketing. Anyone can create some hot selling sales page and then deliver a poor quality or poor performing product. Always underpromise your products and service but over deliver on the actual product or service.

Make sure it appears that your giving more than you have stated in your marketing materials. This also paves the way for some awesome testimonies which leads me on to tip 6.

6. Testimonies.

There is no better way to sell any product or service than by having a third party sell it for you where there is no financial or personal gain for doing so. Ever seen those infomercials late at night or exercise equipment on all those morning Tv shows? People freely give testimonials on products or services they have purchased, used and enjoyed the benefits of. This is powerful. It is one thing for you to sell yourself or your own product, but having others sell YOU or your products is much more easier and will result in achieving your desired outcome quicker. It also comes down to trust.

Having someone else speak highly of you builds credibility in you because it’s not you telling someone else how great you are, It’s someone else talking about how great YOU are. A great way to get testimonials from your customers is just ask!! You would be surprised what people will do if only you just ask them.

7. You Don’t Have To Get It Right, Just Get It Going.

Many individuals and companies wait until everything is perfect before releasing a product or service out into the market place. Do you know any perfectionists out there? These are the people who get few things finished because they never see anything as perfect and therefore it’s not finished and they wont release it into the market. I released my personal website and continue to market it and create content and I still haven’t created a logo with my personal photo in it.

Does this mean I hold off the site until I have done this? Of course not. I got it going before I got everything perfect. With time it will grow and improve which is a process. I have created other sites and released them way before the definition of perfect ever entered my mind. Just get it going. The market and your followers and clients will give you feedback to improve upon. If you have a project you are working on that is currently ‘sidelined’, get it out and release it and work on getting it right later.

8. Hang Out Where Your Industry Hangs Out.

Like attracts like and we all like to socialize and partner with people we feel are similar to us which includes having the same interests. Think about this. Look at your closest friends and you will notice that you are alike in many ways. Perhaps you like the same food, music, car, travel spots, clothing, interest, perhaps you are in the same industry. Hang out in places where your clients or potential clients hang out. This goes with advertising also. If you create computer products and your looking for places to sell them, try computer websites, forums and blogs. Computer magazines etc.

Social networking sites contain groups for almost any interest these days. Search out these groups and build relationships with people within them. Remember like attracts like.

9. Adapt To Change.

Industries, markets and economies constantly change sometimes on a daily basis. Accept that fact that there will always be new and better ways for doing things and achieving a specific goal. Being able to adapt to these changes will give you an advantage. There are many individuals and even organizations that like the ‘same old way of doing things’ and are perhaps to scared to change or try something new. The ones who stay in the past live in a world that no longer exists. Move with the times and reinvent yourself or organization if you have to and stay at the forefront of your industry. Try new tactics.

10. What’s Everyone Else Doing.

Follow experts and leaders in your field. Who are the famous ones? Who are the ones that everyone is talking about? Who is getting the results you are wanting to also get? Search for these people and when you find them stick to them and follow them. Learn what they are doing and what makes what they are doing so successful. Learn their tricks. I attended a Real Estate seminar some years ago and I remember one specific thing the speak said. He said. “Even if you have NO IDEA about investing in property, 1 safe way of doing it is this. Find where the big money is being spent IE where are shopping centers being built, hospitals, schools etc? Find these areas and put your small money next to the money of these huge establishments”.

I always remembered that. So if you find the biggest or best person or company in your field, follow their footsteps and do what they do but on a smaller scale or go bigger if you have the resources. This is a safe bet if you want to totally ignore my previous 9 points I have outlined above!!

If you have any other thoughts to add to this list, please include them in the comments section below. I’m sure everyone will appreciate it.

Already thousands of people around the world are now adapting to blogging as a platform to run their business online. It’s quick & relatively easy and sets you apart from many of the others in your industry. Its an opportunity to start to brand yourself to your target market causing ‘Attraction Marketing‘ to take place. A great resource I have been using is Alvan Phang’s Atomic Blogging System 3.0. There have been previous versions of this system but the 3.0 is the current one and the most advanced. It’s a must for any Blogger or anyone who intends to start a blog regardless of the niche or topic. I personally run 3 blogs and use Atomic Blogging 3.0 on all of them.

I got to know Alvin from his famous Atomic Blogging System. If you do not know Alvin, you should at least check out his famous blog at www.GatherSuccess.com where he earns his living from just blogging online actively! If you do read his blog, you will realized one thing that sets Alvin apart from the rest. And that is that he practices what he preaches as he does make good real money just from blogging on his blog. Alvin just recently launched the Atomic Blogging 3.0 system and I took a look at the system myself and what I can say I am deeply impressed by the amount of details Alvin goes through in his 161 page guide. There’s even video tutorials provided to ensure you got everything to set yourself up to create your blog fast and trouble free. It is a great guide regardless of your current experience with blogs.

Are you currently using targeted social media landing pages on the Internets most popular social networks? What do I mean by this?

At the time of writing this post, I have currently created a separate landing page for each of the most popular social media networks. I have done this for many reason which I will list below but lets take a look at each one for a moment. Here is the Landing page if you are looking at the most popular social networks right now. While I do use and have memberships to other social networks, I currently have landing pages for 3 of them. This will most likely grow as this site grows. This is not something you have to do but I know a few people who do this on their sites so it’s my prediction you’ll start to see this tactic popping up all over the place soon.

My link in my Twitter Profile: http://www.vincecianci.com/welcome-twitter-follower/

My link in my Facebook Profile: http://www.vincecianci.com/welcome-facebook-friend/

If you notice I have changed the URL to reflect the appropriate networking site I am wanting to attach this link to and welcoming in the visitor to my personal site to find out more about me. If you are viewing my Facebook Profile, you will see my link guiding you to a specially built page targeting facebook. I do this for a number of reasons. Here they are:

1. Targeted Marketing. My target market are network marketers, affiliate marketers, internet marketers and those interested in personal development. Upon clicking my facebook link you are taken to my special page where I will give you 2 free gifts with no Optins required. I give away gifts to say thanks for following me, being my friend and wanting to connect and build a relationship with me. If you also look on the page you will see other links…

2. Targeted Products. In these special pages I have also included affiliate products relating to the social networking site in which the visitor came from. For example if you arrived at my site via my Twitter profile you will see affiliate products relating to twitter.

3. Relevancy. It’s fair to say that if someone finds you on a social network, they are very interested in that social network and would potentialy like to learn more from it like how to utilize it to market themselves or products or oppotunity etc..

4. Traffic Flow. If you have ever used Google Analytics on your site you will know what I am talking about here. If you have never used it and you own a website or blog, you are doing your site and/or business an injustice. Google Analytics gives you detailed reports on where your site traffic is coming from. It gives you the URLS, Keywords, Entry paths, Page views, Time on Site just to name a few. For this subject Google tells me exactly how many people are coming from each of my Social Networks. I can monitor which one performs better or increase a poor performing site by spending a little more time on it or by changing my tactics to improve traffic flow.

5. More Branding. The more time someone spends lingering around on my site the better. It gives them the opportunity to connect and learn from me and to find out what I am about. All my social network links connect to my other pages including my About Me section. By spending more time on the site it gives the visitor more opportunities to find what they are looking for whether that be an article or product.

6. Create Interest. How did you feel when you first saw the links above saying Welcome Twitter Follower or Welcome Friend? Where you intrigued? Did it pique your interest? Did you ask what that was about? Would you click just to see what it was? Were you just dying to find out why someone would even create something like that? The first time I saw someone else to this I was intrigued. I asked myself what was on that link. I wanted to know why they did it and the effects it had.

7. Build Your Database. Creating specific pages gives you more control as to where you send these visitors. Send them to a specific marketing funnel, a special database. Some of the links in these specific pages help build my list or sell a product which then helps build my list. Everything you do and create should center around building a list for whatever purposes you choose.

So how did I create these pages without them appearing on my Home Page? I used a plugin called the Exclude Pages WordPress Plugin. This allows you to create a new ‘page’ in wordpress and publish it without it appearing on your top menu bar or wherever your ‘pages’ appear. It’s like creating a hidden page. The only way a visitor will find it is if they have the actual URL. The only place this URL is marketing is on each of the most popular social networks. This plugin is also Free.

What do you think about this idea of creating landing pages for these popular social networking sites? Leave your comments below, I always love to hear your feedback and your experiences.
